1. Before the Typhoon (Preparation Stage)
- Monitor Weather Alerts: Pay close attention to the latest typhoon updates and warning messages via TV, radio, or mobile apps.
- Secure Outdoor Items: Check and fasten doors and windows. Move flowerpots, drying racks, and other loose items indoors.
- Stock Up Supplies: Prepare sufficient drinking water, ready-to-eat food, essential medications, flashlights, power banks, and a first-aid kit.
- Check Utilities: Inspect water, electricity, and gas valves, and ensure that drainage pipes are clear.
2. During the Typhoon (Sheltering Stage)
- Stay Indoors: Do not go outside unless absolutely necessary. Stay within a sturdy building, keep away from windows, and draw the curtains.
- Avoid Dangerous Areas: If caught outside, never seek shelter near temporary structures, billboards, large trees, or power towers.
- Water Safety: Do not wade through water during heavy rain. Avoid deeply flooded roads and watch out for potential electrical leakage.
- Avoid Mountainous Hazards: If you are in a mountainous or hilly area, beware of secondary disasters like flash floods, mudslides, and landslides.
3. After the Typhoon (Recovery Stage)
- Do Not Go Out Blindly: Even if the wind and rain stop temporarily, it might be the eye of the typhoon passing. Stronger winds may follow. Wait for official regular clearance.
- Hygiene & Health: Typhoons can cause bacterial growth. Do not consume damp or contaminated food, and ensure drinking water is thoroughly boiled.
- Report Hazards: If you spot fallen power lines, damaged public facilities, or signs of landslides, report them to the relevant authorities immediately.
